Blending the aggression of metal, the energy of nu metal, and the sour rawness of punk rock, Sonic Detour sounds like a rusty transmission kicking into high gear. And it works. Their self-titled debut EP, full of jagged guitar riffs and infectious hooks, stretches the limits of genre while navigating seamlessly through songs that can be unapologetically ferocious, brazenly provocative, and sometimes even heartfelt.
Sonic Detour started as a sextet consisting of three childhood friends, Jeff Andrusyk (drums), Andrew Clifford (guitar), and Jason Crowley (bass), along with Marcus Marcial (lead guitar), Goose Jenkly (vocals), and Joshua Paul (DJ), known publicly as DJ Demi.
DJ Demi will remain as resident DJ at 5 and Dime in Saint Johnand McGills while continuing his climb as one of the hottest DJs on the East coast. He will appear on both records and some live shows!!
Andrew has chosen to step down as guitar player for personal reasons. He is still our brother, we love him dearly and wish him nothing but the best.
With that being said...as of August 2021 we have recruited the talents of Nikki Cook. His high energy and aggressive style, blends perfectly with us and has a contagious affect. Make sure to come see us live and feel what its like!!!
After playing a number of live shows in late 2019 and early 2020, the band used the downtime brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic to record their seven song, debut EP, which has gone on to be nominated for a 2021 ECMA (Loud Recording of the Year). The band has also been nominated for three Local FM Music Awards: Best New Artist, Best Song (“Breathe Out”), and Best Music Video (“Rise Up”winner). Meanwhile, the song “Breathe Out” spent several weeks on Sackville, Nova Scotia’s CIOE 97.5 Community Radio's Top 30 chart, ultimately reaching #4.
Currently, Sonic Detour is aggressively promoting their self-titled EP, both online and live, while also fine-tuning the material that will follow it later in the year. The EP can be found on all major streaming platforms, and physical copies are available at most local record stores and here.
"Starting a band during a pandemic was not only insane but completely necessary... We only wanted to create something new that we could listen to while still capturing a nostalgic feeling. Now we have our sights set a little higher. This is the first video we did not do ourselves. If you haven't already heard we plan on releasing a video for every song on our debut EP. (Sonic Detour) this being #4 we have only a few left.Once all 7 videos are released we will have new material for the world..... Keep it locked" SD Sonic Detour's official music video for Cliché. I'm gonna find me a preacher who can teach me to pray I'll beg forgiveness for my misguided ways I'm gonna find me a woman and follow her to heaven because it's quarter past eleven; I've been sinning all day But hey, It doesn't really matter what I say anyway I tell myself a million lies a million times a day You tell so many lies yourself you look the other way But anyway You say every once in a while we sell ourselves out You've got your reasons, meanwhile me, I just did it for the money I did it for the money I've got sins of the father I'll drown myself in holy water just to wash the remnants away I've lived pedal to the metal so long I never settled Now I'm running from the devil like I'm Ichabod Crane But hey, And now I've burned through my excuses like they're kerosine You see the pale ghosts of my dead hopes when you look at me I look at you, to tell the truth, I don't see anything An empty thing You say every once in a while we sell ourselves out Settle for a Coke and a smile Me, I just did it for the money I did it for the money You say every once in a while we sell ourselves out Settle for a Coke and a smile Me, I just did it for the money

RISE UP!!!!!!!!! RISE UP!!!!!!!!! I've been down Got a gut full of fire I've been a thief and a liar I was the one you walked away from Now/ I'm feeling over my head I'm taking pills to keep me level Keep it simple Keep myself from getting wasted, basted, inebriasted Can't stop now I keep it basic Here/ on the other side trying to remind myself of the nights so dire I pictured my end like a friend, like a Godsend, creeping in and soothing my head with oblivion Oh,/ but that was then In my head yet hides a demon, I've been, trying to exorcise and thought I'd beaten I have , now got my doubts (I'm alive, I'm alive, alive) Well I have now got my doubts (I'm Alive, I'm Alive I'm alive) I've been wasted and a waste Addicted to shame In love with my cage And yeah, I admit it I'm a hypocrite now but if you want me to fall you'd best calm yourself down Look, if you relate, just relate but don't you ever think there's glamor in these songs that I sing And don't you ever think I'm proud of all these places I've been I'm fighting like a fiend to keep it clean So. You want to be broke? Sell everything that you own? Just to get by? Get high? Try suicide? Told you so, I'm a hypocrite, right? Yeah, once upon a time I fell Now I rise In my head yet hides a demon I've been, trying to exorcise and thought I'd beaten I have , now got my doubts (Im Alive, I'm alive, I'm alive) Well I have now got my doubts (Im Alive I'm alive, I'm alive) OH!!!!!! RISE UP!!!!!!!!! RISE UP!!!!!!!!! RISE UP!!!!!!!!! no puppets were harmed in the making of this video.... except the stunt double Jason
